Sparkler Dashboard users who have access to the ASQ Dashboard can use the tools on this page to review families’ screening results, record their follow-up recommendations, and share results with families. Here are a few frequently asked questions to help you use the page. If you have additional questions, please email us at support@playsparkler.org.
The ASQ follow-up process is aligned with program’s individual policies and practices. Here is a general process, which can be adapted by different partner organizations using Sparkler to meet their needs:
Step 1: Get ASQ Notification to Start the Process (providers will receive a notification that a family has completed a screening if they are listed as one of the addresses that should be contacted around screening and other support on the organization).
Step 2: Review & Interpret Scores and Concerns.
Step 3: Reach Out to Parent/Caregiver.
Step 4: Talk to the Family to Share Results.
Step 5: Send the ASQ Results to the Family and Complete Sparkler’s Follow-Up Form (if enabled for your organization).
- Submit Your Follow-Up Report by clicking on the button that says “Start Now: Follow Up Report.” This becomes active once a screening is completed. Once you complete it and save, it turns “Green,” indicating that you have followed up with the family.
- Share the ASQ Results Report by clicking into the child’s ASQ detail page and pressing the blue button that says Send Results Email.
- Share a Summary of Your Recommendations using one of the templates by clicking into the child’s ASQ detail page, pressing the blue button that says “Send Follow-Up Parent Message” and customizing the message to provide an overview of your recommendations.
Step 6: Suggest Activities from Sparkler’s Library. You can pick activities or tips for grown-ups that are aligned with children’s needs and/or family concerns.
Please make sure that the family is signed up with Sparkler and linked with you. The easiest way to do this is to ask them to go to settings –> My Account. There, they can see the name/email address they used to sign up with and the Cohort or Cohorts their child is currently linked with. They can add your program if it is not listed by scanning your QR code or pressing Add to a new program and manually entering your program’s access code. If you need additional support, please email support@playsparkler.org.
By default, the dashboard is showing the CURRENT ASQs. If a family completed a screening right before the child aged into the next ASQ interval, you might be seeing the newly assigned screening (not completed) rather than the one they recently completed. In order to see the previously completed screening(s), uncheck the checkbox that says “only show most recent.” This will allow you to see older ASQs.
You can send the report again. Click into the child’s ASQ detail page and press the blue button that says “Send Results Email.” The family will receive a secure link at their email address Sparkler has on file. If you want to check when the results have been sent before, click the link that says “Click to see all sendouts” below the button. This will display the sender name and the date/time when the results were sent.
Sparkler is based on parental consent. If the parent has linked up with multiple programs/providers, then multiple programs/providers have access to the child’s screening results and can review the results. At any time, the parent/caregiver can change which program(s) their child is linked with in settings. If they remove their child from a cohort, that organization will no longer be able to see the child’s screening results.
It is important to follow up with the families who complete screening so that they understand the results and know what to do next to support their child’s development.
In many places where Sparkler works, following up using the dashboard is required. Please consult with your program supervisor to learn what is required at your program.
