This page enables site leaders and other designated administrators to add and edit Sparkler family accounts and child profiles, with parent consent. Here are a few frequently asked questions to help you use the page. If you have additional questions, please email us at support@playsparkler.org.
If you add a new user (which is a grown-up account), Sparkler will email the parent to help them set up their password, download the app, and use Sparkler on their device.
You must secure the necessary consent from the family. Often, families sign blanket consent forms, giving programs the ability to enter their information into school/program databases. If you are unsure, please consult with experts at your school/program to ensure you have the necessary parental consent.
Yes. Add an additional child by pressing “Add Child.” You can add an additional child NOW or later. Please remember to select the cohort that the child is part of — this is how they are placed into the correct program/classroom.
Yes. Click on any row in the table to edit. You can add a child or edit the details for that family.
If a child has left your program, you should remove the cohort that’s part of your program. Save. The family will be able to continue using the Sparkler app, but will no longer show up as part of your program. You will not see them on the Sparkler dashboard.
Other members of your staff without access to the Administration tab can remove children who are no longer part of your program as follows: Go to the Children tab of the dashboard and look for the child who has left. On their profile page, press “EDIT” in the box on the upper left corner and then press “REMOVE.” This will remove them from your program but will allow the family to continue using Sparkler if they want — rather than deleting all of their account information.
If you press this, Sparkler will receive a request from you to delete this account. Please only send this if the parent/caregiver has created a duplicate account and/or if they have asked you to delete their account. If you need to remove someone from your program, please REMOVE the child on the Children tab of the Sparkler Dashboard.
Actions are recorded moments when the family interacts with the Sparkler app. For example, if they browse the play activities or work on an ASQ, that would be an “action,” which would be recorded here. If you don’t see anything it means that the parent has never used the app.
